[OOC] NaNoWriMo 2017

Well, I talked myself into signing up for NaNo this year. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a challenge to write 50,000 words in the month of November. There’s a site here, if you’re interested in joining in:

It’s been a really long time since I’ve attempted it, and my life is a lot busier now than it was then. But I am fairly confident that I’ll be able to keep up with my word-count if I can set aside a set block of time every day.

However, because I have hopes to publish this book eventually, that means I won’t be able to post it here. It also means it’s not likely that I’ll have time to write much else during the month of November. I’ll try to queue up some interesting screenshots to look at in the meantime! I will also post updates, and maybe excerpts if I don’t feel like they’re too embarrassing!

[OOC] One Week to Go

The kids will be back one week from today. Their rooms are ready but I’m not sure if I am! I didn’t get everything done that I wanted, though I hope I’ll still be able to work on art when school starts again. It really depends on their schedules though.

I have been working on a few things though, today I made my eclipse viewing box. I haven’t seen glasses anywhere for sale here, so I made this using instructions online. I probably need to practice with it, I tried a bit earlier but it was pretty cloudy. (See my cat there in the background on the couch haha!)

I ordered a little set of unpainted wooden nesting dolls and they arrived today. They are great and were very inexpensive! I am still not sure yet what I want to do, I was thinking perhaps different colors of dragons or maybe druid animal forms. If they turn out well I might get others to paint — they would be a great craft for kids to do, too.

And I finished painting the Cassandra POP, but I want to give her a full day to dry before doing the sealant, and that’s when I’ll take her pictures. It was also pretty humid today, which isn’t good for spraying. Once it drops below 70% regularly, I need to prep my dragon doll for painting too.

[OOC] Road Trip!

I’m leaving tomorrow morning for a mini road trip to Vermont. I’m going to a doll meet, and also going to see two of my best internet pals and RP partners for the past uh… a lot of years. I’ll try to get some pictures!

[OOC] Moving Day!

The big move is almost here, I will be packing my computer up tonight and we leave on Friday. I wasn’t able to get my laptop to connect to the wireless, so I’m not sure if I will be able to post from the road or not. Fortunately, the internet is already hooked up at the new house though, so it shouldn’t be any later than Saturday.

Hopefully I can get everything unpacked and have some time to sew and write!

[OOC] Sewing Summer Plans

As every summer, I had a lot of projects planned. During the school year I really don’t have the time to sew like crazy. I just found out that I’ll only have two months though, maybe even less, depending on when I need to go pick kids up from their grandparents’. So this is my highly unrealistic list of what I want to get done. I suspect one or more of these projects will have to be delayed until later, though.

  • Sew, of course. I have ideas for 3 or 4 plush, none patterned yet but I’ve started sketches for one.
  • Clean up and update my website so I can use it to sell things. This one is tough, I don’t know how to write code.
  • More custom POPs. I’ve started my druid and have ideas for a few more. These are possible to do during the school year, though.
  • Learn needle-felting. I have a kit already from last year!
  • Try my hand at reborn dolls. I recently bought one and I want to try making my own. There are tons of tutorials out there so I don’t think it would be too difficult, just very time consuming.

[OOC] Houseguest Hell

Sorry it’s been a little quiet around here, I’ve had houseguests for the past ten days and it’s killed pretty much any opportunity to write. (I have at least got some art done though!) After tomorrow things should be back to normal and I can be productive again.

[OOC] Summer Sewing Season!

Summer sewing season has officially started! While the kids are away at Grandma’s I am taking advantage of my free time to catch up on sewing. The plan is to get a bunch made that I can put up for sale in my Etsy store or elsewhere. I’ll be sure to put a link when they are ready!

I need to put in an order of fur, and supplies like eyes and joints, but I have enough to start on some Mabari dogs from Dragon Age. I really love this fur, it’s one of the pieces I got from the Vermont Teddy Bear factory sale. If I can find more like this I’d be so happy!

So I’ll try to keep writing at least every couple of days, but they may be short as I don’t have much computer time right now. I’ll try to post some progress pictures of the animals too.
